What are Learning Communities?
Learning communities consist of user groups and Discussions. When used together they create a learning tool based on student/ teacher or just user interactions. User groups are added to discussions and from there you can specify the content of the discussion. Our Learning Communities work as a powerful tool to make learning online more interactive.
What is a User Group?
User groups link users together so you can add the created user group to a discussion. Instead of adding individual users to a discussion. For example, if you have a website for teaching Japanese, Chinese, and Korean you can make user groups for all of those students. Then you can create their respective discussion groups and go ahead and add them. Creating user groups make adding users to discussion groups very streamlined and organized.
What are Discussion groups?
Discussion groups are similar to chat forums but are moderated by teachers or administrators. The layout is similar to the Facebook chat feature. You can assign students to discussion groups and have them make a post as part of an assignment. Here students can help each other understand the content or they can ask questions to the teacher who can answer in the chat forum where everyone can see. This feature makes learning much more collaborative!
